Preparatory work for Advanced Safeguarding training

We are holding an Advanced Safeguarding training session on Saturday 22nd February at Gresford Methodist Church. The training will begin mid-morning – exact time to be confirmed. The training itself will last for approximately 4 hours. There is some pre-work required for the session.

The Methodist Church mandates the following roles to undertake Advanced Safeguarding every 4 years -

• Church and Circuit Safeguarding Officers
• Members of the District Policy Committee
• Presbyters and Deacons with an active preaching ministry (including supernumeraries)
• Those who are in paid employment or a voluntary role which includes leadership within the Methodist Church, involving direct work with children, young people or vulnerable adults * (see note below)
• Lay persons who are appointed to exercise pastoral leadership within a local church (note this does not include pastoral visitors who must undertake the Foundation training)
• Local Preachers and Worship Leaders

*Any designated leaders of activities with children e.g. Sunday School or Toddlers groups must undertake the training at Advanced Level. (ALL those who work with children in the name of the church must have completed the separate foundation level training ).

The pre-work can be found in the attached document, but if you prefer a printed copy please let Sue know when you contact her.

The training team are coming a considerable distance and so this is likely to be the only face to face training opportunity in the Circuit for some time. The online training will continue to be offered and if you cannot attend Gresford but are required to undertake the training you MUST therefore do it online. Again please contact Sue if you prefer the on-line training and she will pass on your details.
